I attended the 2009 Sinulog festival last Sunday,January 18, with my sister. The biggest crowd i've ever seen so far, since i attend Sinulog every year. From Mabolo where we're dropped by the jeepney, we walked all the way to the Basilica del Sto.Nino to attend the Holy Mass. I almost run out of breath before i reached the church entrance. I thought if we can enter the church I can breathe better but i was wrong, because the number of people inside i think were the same number outside. I asked myself, "how many millions of people here today, who have Faith to the Holy Child? the answer's Countless!
During the 12 o'clock mass we remain standing,others were sitting on the floor,some were leaning on the walls, we could hardly move because of the thick crowd who heard the mass.
While listening to the priest,the woman standing in front of me suddenly fainted and collapsed.
I tried to help by massaging her hands,fanned her for some air and letting her inhale the inhaler I brought in my pocket. Then she came back to life! Before the mass has ended, she smiled at me and thanked me for helping her. Her daughter also did the same. Then we parted ways for the Holy communion. It felt great to have helped someone and received a sweet thank you with a SMILE!
After the mass,we experienced again the pushing and the elbow to elbow experience with the millions of people who pay homage to the Blessed Sr. Sto.Nino. But I felt so happy and my body was so light that i didn't mind when we proceed to watch the street dancing. And with one beat,one dance,and with one vision, we shout,PIT SENIOR!
